The Marketing Tech and Science team helps customers discover and engage with new, popular and relevant products across Amazon worldwide. We do this by combining technology, science, and innovation to build new customer-facing features and experiences alongside cutting edge tools for marketers. You will be responsible for creating and building a centralized reporting and data analysis platform for the marketing team to optimize Amazon’s cross-category marketing and merchandising. Through the enablement of intelligent marketing campaigns that leverage machine-learning models, you will help to deliver the best possible shopping experience for Amazon’s customers all over the globe.

As a software engineer on the team, you will have the opportunity to design features for and experiment on hundreds of millions of customers all across the globe. Our experimentation centers on Machine Learning enhancements to product advertisement and marketing. The team focuses on feature development that helps the marketing department analyze their campaign and activities. We believe in regular feature develop and frequent experimentation, allowing us to continuously improve the customer experience. You will have the opportunity to explore the many channels Amazon provides for customer outreach and engagement, both onsite and offsite. As a new team, we carry little tech debt. We prioritize writing high quality and maintainable code, and build systems that leverage existing tools to provide extensive test coverage across our services. Amazon’s retail business is well established within the company, the reporting team is unique in its nascency within the organization. As a member of our software engineering team you can expect to:

• Learn and grow from a talented group of individuals within our team and within our sister teams

• Immerse yourself in the process of standing up new services from scratch, through powerful industry leading AWS products

• Solve problems which require novel solutions in low-latency systems

• Solve problems that center around scale, across the world, over hundreds of millions of customers

• Perform peer code-reviews and contribute to technical designs

• Integrate and collaborate with applied science experts specialized in machine learning recommendation models

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
