Robert Half Principal Technical Accountant in San Diego, California
Description We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Technical Accountant to join our team in San Diego, California. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while supporting various accounting and compliance functions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in technical accounting, financial audits, and process improvement to help us maintain and enhance our financial operations.
Responsibilities:
• Perform month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and analyzing financial data.
• Conduct monthly inventory analysis, review aged items, and support calculations for excess and obsolete reserves.
• Collaborate with auditors by preparing schedules, reports, and documentation for quarterly, annual, and interim financial audits.
• Manage payroll-related journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and coordinate with Human Resources to improve accounting workflows.
• Assist in the administration and accounting for equity plans in partnership with the Senior Financial Reporting Manager.
• Prepare and maintain lease accounting schedules in compliance with ASC 842 and record related transactions in the general ledger.
• Draft technical accounting memos and contribute to the development of financial reporting footnotes.
• Ensure all financial operations comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and recommend improvements to enhance existing processes.
• Participate in special projects and other duties to support accurate and timely financial reporting. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field from an accredited institution.
• Active CPA license is required.
• A minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a publicly traded company.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial audit procedures.
• Experience with equity accounting is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
