Job Description
Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Network Control Technician for the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE).
This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and cybersecurity defense of the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) client, server, and network infrastructure. These systems support enterprise-wide modeling and simulation applications and services essential to the NITE program.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with team members and departments to update, monitor, and maintain servers, workstations, and network devices across the enterprise. Additional responsibilities include performing Microsoft Windows client/server administration, patching, and configuring systems in compliance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG). The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Ensure smooth operation of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and virtual private networks (VPNs).
Plan, evaluate, and coordinate the installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software components for data and voice communication networks.
Maintain technical expertise across all network and computer hardware/software interconnections, including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, and more.
Propose optimized solutions to meet evolving communications requirements while minimizing cost.
Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including operational instructions.
Conduct regular monitoring and analysis of network performance for both short- and long-term planning.
Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment as necessary.
Design network or network components, including the selection of hardware and software packages.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 years of relevant experience, OR:
Master’s degree and 0 years of relevant experience, OR:
High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience.
Cisco experience required, including switching and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
Experience with digesting and implementing DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
Proficiency in patching Microsoft servers and workstations.
Experience with VMware.
U.S. Secret Security Clearance (must be maintained).
Security+ certification or equivalent.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Requirements
Linux+/Microsoft/Cisco certifications.
Proficiency in Windows desktop operating systems (WIN10 SHB).
Experience with network and performance monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
Familiarity with enterprise patching systems.
Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Demonstrated customer focus with the ability to manage customer needs and prioritize multiple work requirements effectively.
Physical Requirements
