Amentum Marine Diesel Mechanic in San Diego, California

Amentum is seeking a Marine Diesel Mechanic (Marine electrician) with small craft experience in Naval Amphibious (NAB) Coronado, CA. Work is performed at Navy Training Command in Coronado, California and personnel must maintain highest standards of personal grooming and dress.

Duties:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.

  • Propulsion systems operation and casualty control in-port and underway on small navy watercraft.

  • Perform pre-start and post-operation checks.

  • Abides to Amentum Ethics Program, Workplace Environment and Occupational Safety standards.

  • Maintaining cleanliness of work areas or assigned craft.

  • Work environment/Conditions: Both inside and outside environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain US Naval Base security access. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • Must have minimum six (6) years Navy Engineman, Electrician’s Mate, Construction Mechanic, or Electronics Technician rating or equivalent civilian experience.

  • Experience with 460 and 115 Vac distribution systems, 24 Vdc, diesel engine electronic control systems and programmable logic controllers.

  • Must be equivalent to Navy Second Class Swimmer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Occasionally work hours will be changed based on the type of training required.

  • Former Navy Engineman, Electrician or Electronics Technician with Improved Navy Lighterage System (INLS) experience is preferred.

  • Specific experience on CAT C18 & C4.4, Detroit Diesel 8V71TI, hydraulic and electrical systems is a plus.

  • Ability to work overtime.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

Compensation & Benefits:

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.78 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
