Qualcomm GPU Software Engineer in San Diego, California

General Summary:

The GPU team is looking to hire an Engineer to join the team. As a GPU Software Developer, you are responsible for working with a team on developing & optimizing best in class GPU drivers like OpenGL ES/Vulkan/DX11/DX12/OpenCL APIs and for GPU Machine learning acceleration. This position requires significant collaboration with hardware designers to understand, improve, and document hardware/software interfaces.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong programming skills in C/C+• Strong in data structures and algorithms

• Real-time operating systems is preferred

• Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills with the ability to work independently

• Highly motivated, excellent team spirit, product and customer oriented

• Programming experience with OpenGL ES/Vulkan/DX11/DX12/OpenCL APIs, Game Development is optional.

Skills:

Mathematical Methods, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Scientific Analysis, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Software Solutions, Game Development, C/C++ programing, operating systems and computer architecture.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.

• 2+ years relevant GPU experience (either external or internal).

• 1+ year of experience with one or more programming language suitable for graphics (e.g., C++, C).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Writes code for well-defined features, drivers, and APIs using different languages (e.g., shader languages, C++, perl, java, python) as directed.

• Assists with the development of small feature designs that meet requirements under supervision.

• Programs and runs pre- and post- silicon tests and simulations using basic tools and methods under guidance for a specific, well-defined component to check performance; addresses QA feedback.

• Debugs basic issues and identifies root causes to determine the source and helps to develop solutions.

• Works with internal partners with guidance to understand their needs and goals for implementation and customization.

Level of Responsibility:

• Working under close supervision.

• Taking responsibility for own work and making decisions with limited impact; impact of decisions is readily apparent; errors made typically only impact timeline (i.e., require additional time to correct).

• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information about day-to-day activities to others who are fully knowledgeable in the subject area.

• Working within prescribed budget and resources.

• Completing some tasks with multiple steps which must be performed in a specific order; directions or manuals can accurately document the steps necessary to perform the task.

• Exercising some creativity to troubleshoot technical problems or deal with novel circumstances.

• Using deductive problem solving to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required.

The responsibilities of this role do not include:

• Providing supervision/guidance to others.

• Influence over key organizational decisions.

• Role in strategic planning.

Pay range:

$97,000.00 - $145,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
