Fortive Corporation Engineering Technician (Temp) in San Diego, California

Responsibilites:

  • Design/ Drafting:

  • Provide support to engineering team by creating technical drawings, designing models within deadlines, and utilizing multiple methods to ensure deliverables include all relevant design details

  • Collaborate with engineering team to design machined and injection molded parts in Solidworks.

  • Create assemblies in SolidWorks with the guidance of responsible engineer.

  • Collect initial drawings, calculations, and design ideas from engineers, and combine all relevant data into coherent and complete initial design models for review and modification

  • Enforce GD&T best practices and assist with proper implementation.

  • Work within the PDM workflow to check, updating an approve drawings.

  • Purchasing

  • Translate CAD assembly components into structured BOM for procurement.

  • Organize RFQ materials (CAD, drawings, etc.) to send to suppliers for quotation.

  • Send RFQ materials to multiple suppliers and compare responses to discuss with engineer.

  • Facilitate material procurement (supplier interactions, PO placement, receiving and organizing items, etc.)

  • Technician support

  • Assist in maintenance and improvement activities (tool calibration, maintaining workshop inventory, equipment servicing and replacement, etc).

  • Support projects as needed including but not limited to: instrument uncrating, material compatibility testing, leak testing, etc.

  • Collect and synthesize test data to discuss with responsible engineers.

Experience:

  • Proficient with Solidworks

  • Experience with Solidworks PDM preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and mathematical abilities

  • Self-starter able to work with strict deadlines

  • Experience with mechanical manufacturing processes

Education:

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
