Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Director of Finance for our Ship Repair business in San Diego, CA. The Director will join our senior leadership team at San Diego Ship Repair, a leading provider of ship repair services with a strong reputation for quality and reliability. As a Director of Finance, you will be at the forefront of financial planning and analysis, playing a critical role in shaping the organization's financial strategy. The Director of Finance is a vital member of our senior leadership team and is responsible for partnering with the VP/General Manager, providing strategic recommendations to achieve both the annual operating plans (AOP) and 5-year Forecasts.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of financial projects, from financial planning and forecasting to financial analysis and reporting. Your day-to-day functions will include leading a team of finance professionals, including estimators and financial planning and analysis (FP&A) specialists, in gathering and analyzing financial data, preparing and summarizing financial reports, and developing financial models to drive business decisions. You will be responsible for developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support business growth and optimization. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing estimates and managing proposal developments, ensuring that financial proposals are accurate, complete, and submitted on time. This will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and engineering, to gather data, develop cost estimates, and prepare financial proposals that meet customer requirements and support business growth.
You will be a key member of our finance team, providing financial leadership and expertise to drive business growth, optimize financial performance, and support the development of successful proposals. Responsibilities:
Serve as a trusted business partner and advisor to the San Diego Ship Repair organization
Provide financial oversight, direction, and strategic guidance to the members of the team
Lead, mentor, and develop an effective Finance team, driving program metrics and key performance indicators
Develop and implement financial plans and strategies to drive business growth and optimize financial performance
Analyze financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to management
Lead Financial Performance and Reporting to include the monthly Financial Closing activities, Program Performance Reviews (PPR), Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), Forecasting (Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Integrated Business Planning (IBP1 & IBP2), Ad-Hoc Variance Analysis, Financial Controls/COSA Oversight, and Controllable Indirect Spend Tracking & Reporting
Manage proposal developments and ensure accurate and timely submission of financial proposals
Develop comprehensive business cases to inform CapEx investments, including financial analysis, ROI calculations, and risk assessments
Develop and manage financial estimates, including cost estimates, pricing strategies, and financial proposals
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, develop cost estimates, and prepare financial proposals that meet customer requirements and support business growth
Provide financial leadership and expertise to drive business outcomes and support the development of successful proposals
Identify areas for cost savings and process improvements, and implement changes to optimize financial performance
Provide regular communication and presentation of financial data to leadership
Manage employee development and recognition (annual reviews, training, employee recognition activities, etc.)
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
Experience in Finance Management, including financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
Experience in People Management, including mentorship, training, and development
Experience in Financial Compliance and Controls, such as Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), etc.
Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM)
Experience in Proposals for various contract types, such as development, analysis, etc.
Experience working with external auditing agencies (DCAA, DCMA, Accounting Firms)
Ability to develop and drive strategic plans and objectives
Ability to lead cross-functional teams
Ability to support change and drive process improvements
Ability to develop relationships across functional lines
Capable of efficient and relevant decision-making
Strong interpersonal and collaborations skills
Strong data analytics and reporting skills
Effective communication skills
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Master s Degree
Professional Certification (CPA, CFA, etc.)
Experience in the Ship Repair or Maritime industry
Experience in Fixed-Price Navy contracts
Experience in Defense Program Finance
Expertise in Government regulatory compliance, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
Expertise in competitive proposal development
Experience in Earned Value Management software (Cobra, MPM, etc.)
Experience in Financial software, such as ERP, accounting, and financial planning systems
Experience in ProPricer estimating software
Experience in Power BI or Tableau
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $135556 - $230444
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
