Robert Half Accounts Receivable Specialist in San Diego, California

Description

Your primary duties include:

  • Creating and sending invoices for tuition, grants, donations, and other receivables.

  • Accurately recording payments received via checks, credit cards, ACH, and other methods.

  • Reconciling accounts receivable transactions and ensuring accuracy with the general ledger.

  • Monitoring receivable aging reports and initiating collections processes (e.g., following up on overdue accounts, establishing payment plans).

  • Communicating with parents, students, donors, and partners to resolve any billing questions or disputes.

  • Generating accounts receivable reports for management and assisting with month-end or year-end financial activities.

  • Ensuring AR processes adhere to internal policies and regulatory standards, including tax-related documentation (e.g., 1098-T forms).

  • Recommending improvements to AR workflows and reporting processes to enhance efficiency.

    Requirements

  • High school diploma required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred.

  • 2–3+ years of accounts receivable experience, preferably in education or a non-profit setting.

  • Knowledge of payment plans, donation accounting, or grant funding is a significant plus.

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other ERP systems.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP functions, pivot tables).

  • Excellent communication skills, including a customer service-oriented mindset.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and data entry.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • A Bookkeeper or Accounts Receivable Specialist Certification is a bonus but not required.
