Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a vital role in managing the accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our financial operations within the education sector.
Responsibilities:
Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner, verifying receipt of goods or services and obtaining necessary approvals
Review and reconcile vendor statements, resolving any discrepancies or issues with vendors as needed
Code invoices to the appropriate accounts and cost centers, ensuring accurate allocation of expenses
Prepare and perform check runs, including printing, obtaining necessary approvals, and mailing or electronically transmitting payments
Maintain accurate and organized records of all accounts payable transactions, including filing and archiving documents as required
Communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments to resolve any billing or payment inquiries
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing accruals and reconciling accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger
Assist with other accounting tasks and projects as needed
Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
2+ years of experience in accounts payable or related finance roles, preferably in the education sector
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of accounting principles and processes within the education sector preferred
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
