The Innovation Lab Manager will lead research and development (RandD) initiatives focused on smart infrastructure. This role will be at the forefront of innovation, driving new ideas from concept to implementation while overseeing both the technical aspects of projects and the management of a diverse team of engineers, researchers, and project managers. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in smart infrastructure technologies, along with proven leadership skills in managing cross-functional teams and projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Research and Development:
  • Lead RandD efforts in the field of smart infrastructure, identifying emerging technologies and solutions that can enhance urban environments, energy systems, and transportation networks.
  • Collaborate with industry experts, academic institutions, and internal teams to develop innovative prototypes and solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, pilot projects, and assessments to validate new technologies.
  • Ensure that all RandD initiatives are aligned with business objectives and industry trends.
Project Management:
  • Manage the full lifecycle of innovation projects, from ideation to deployment, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met.
  • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and monitor progress against goals and KPIs.
  • Foster collaboration between departments, including engineering, operations, IT, and product development teams.
  • Manage risk, issue resolution, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, and support staff.
  • Provide technical and professional guidance to the team, ensuring high standards of performance.
  • Create a culture of innovation, encouraging team members to explore new ideas and technologies.
  • Facilitate team development through training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
Strategic Planning:
  • Define the strategic direction for the Innovation Lab, in line with company goals and emerging market trends.
  • Work with leadership to align RandD initiatives with the companys long-term growth strategy.
  • Develop and manage the Innovation Lab's budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Report progress, insights, and recommendations to senior management on a regular basis.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and partners.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, and innovation forums.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify and prioritize innovation opportunities.
Preferred skills and Qualifications:
  • Education:Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. MBA is a plus.

  • Experience:7+ years of experience in RandD, with at least 3 years managing teams and projects. Experience in smart infrastructure, IoT, AI, or other related fields is highly desirable.

  • Technical Skills:Strong understanding of smart infrastructure technologies such as IoT, data analytics, AI, and cloud computing. Familiarity with infrastructure development, urban planning, and energy systems is a plus.

  • Project Management:Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex projects. PMP or Agile certification is a plus.

  • Leadership:Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, manage conflict, and foster collaboration.

  • Innovation Mindset:Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and a passion for exploring cutting-edge technologies and solutions.

Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present t chnical information to non-technical stakeholders.
