Construction Manager

Contract position: Construction Engineer / Manager position with a retail client located in San Antonio, TX. This contract, potential temp to hire role will be responsible to manage the full life cycle of new and retrofit retail store construction projects throughout the region. Approximately 40% travel with overnights as needed will be required.

Responsibilities for the Construction Manager

  • Prepare schedules for each assigned project and provide weekly updates and issue reporting and communications as needed to ensure that all interested parties are prepared to execute their respective activities

  • Conduct project coordination meetings as needed so as to result in a smooth execution of the project and document and distribute meeting minutes as required

  • Review plans and specs for each project, revising when necessary to ensure conformance to current approved design and construction standards and provide direction to the store design team and/or external engineer as needed.

  • Coordinate with store design and engineering to ensure that all necessary project submittals are received in accordance with project schedule requirements and conform to plans and specs.

  • Expedite the timely close out of all projects, manage warranty items coordinating with contractors, landlords and other parties as necessary

  • Travel as needed related to projects

Requirements for the Construction Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or related field or the equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Approximately five or more years of retail or similar construction work experience

  • Direct hands on work experience in a building trade and the ability able to read and fully understand all building and engineering plans and details

  • Experience with bidding and awarding contracts, preparing and monitoring schedules, budgets and cost reports

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and preferably with Access database and AutoCAD

  • Must be well spoken and articulate with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels with internal and external customers
