WSP USA Civil CADD Technician - Transportation in San Antonio, Texas

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Civil CAD Technician for our Transportation Team .

The position ideally sits out of our Houston, TX office, however, applicants can sit in our Austin, San Antonio, or Dallas, TX offices, if needed.

Candidate must have a background in OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition, MicroStation CE, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. The candidate will be involved in projects with our Texas Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The candidate should have good communication skills and the ability to work with a multi-discipline group of experienced professionals. The candidate will be responsible for drafting primarily civil designs with an emphasis on plan production and assisting users to create drawing sets from initial setup to submittal. ProjectWise duties that will include file organization, user onboarding and preliminary seed files setup.

Your Impact

  • Generate civil plans with direction from engineering and senior design staff

  • Follow company and department design standards and quality procedures

  • Communicate clearly in verbally and in writing to develop internal network of professionals

  • Solve problems of a routine nature with ample precedent or clearly defined procedures

  • Work under CADD Manager supervision, under general work instructions and standardized routines

  • Put forward ideas on how work assignments can be executed

  • Perform 2D and 3D drafting to develop working and final drawings

  • Provide drafting/standards guidance to less experienced staff

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or Certificate

  • 3+ years of drafting experience

  • Familiar with TxDOT drafting standards

  • Proficient in OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition, ProjectWise, MicroStation CE, AutoCAD Civil3D

  • Proven experience in plan production and design for civil projects

  • Ability to be flexible in daily duties and level of responsibility encompassing redlining as well as assisting plan production efforts

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Collaborate well within a multi-discipline design team to produce construction drawings efficiently

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proficiency in MS Office products

  • This role may be subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
