USAA Business Intelligence Analyst Senior in San Antonio, Texas

Tasks: Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role. Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled. Follow written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities. Lead and participate in gathering complex and often unique business requirements by partnering with customers to define the business problem and data needs. Utilize an advanced understanding of multiple data structures and sources to lead the development and implementation of business intelligence solutions, which may include data visualization, data transformation, or data collection. Strategically partner and work with IT execution teams on the development of analytic infrastructures, data engineering, or related business intelligence efforts. Includes collaborating on the design and implementation of technical standards and governance practices. Apply data visualization best practices - often selecting the right data ‘tool for the job’ to identify and interpret trends or patterns while following standard Enterprise branding. Understand the value of prototyping, usability, and the end-user experience to maximize the impact of the final data visualization product (dashboard, report, insight, or analysis). Act as a trusted data visualization advisor to the stakeholder/end-user in order to drive business value. Provide system thinking to influence relevant data, information, and application architecture decisions. May serve as an Agile champion who is responsible for the methodology, execution, and team education on best practices. May provide internal team leadership by providing guidance on business intelligence tools, techniques and processes. Actively participate in industry, COE, or other discipline relevant groups/panels to keep abreast of industry trends and share best practices with team. May telecommute. (Ref: 20972.251.7)

Requirements : Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, followed by 6 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered, or in an analyst-related occupation. Position requires:

  • BI platforms/applications (Tableau, Business Objects, SAS, and Python);

  • Data management platforms;

  • SQL-based languages (SQL, Snowflake, Hadoop, Netezza, Advanced SAS, and SAS Macros);

  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Data Development Lifecycle (DDLC);

  • Control M automation and optimization of complex SAS jobs and processes, validation and migration of complex applications and modules;

  • Gathering complex and often unique business requirements by partnering with customers to define the business problem and application/data needs utilization of mind mapping;

  • Performing system analysis on various in scope systems and assist in development of integrated production environment;

  • Analyzing the impact of changes in upstream and downstream systems;

  • Driving cross-functional teams with representatives from production support, quality assurance, and IT support;

  • Building business knowledge through meaningful partnerships at the individual contributor, leadership, and EMG levels;

  • Embedding intuitive story telling within business intelligence solutions; and

  • NoSQL based databases/languages (Cassandra, MongoDB, and DynamoDB).
