School Certifying Officials (SCOs) serve as the liaison between the student, the University, the VA, and the State Approval Authority. They ensure eligible Veterans, military members, and their dependents receive prompt and accurate certification in VA educational systems. Provides strategic financial analysis to department management; coordinates program and operations research and analysis; and provides successful planning, administration and execution of a specific program(s). Provides information related to planning, policy development, work methods and procedures, manpower utilization, organizational structure, distribution of assignments and information management.The Senior SCO organizes, directs, and controls all aspects of all projects and programs within the Veteran Services Department of the Veterans Support Center. This includes being responsible for the planning and implementation of VA educational benefit policies and procedures as well as day-to-day operations. SCOs serve as the liaison between the student, the University, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA); advising and providing accurate information to student veterans and dependents. Facilitates collaborative relationships with departments campus-wide to ensure quality of service and compliance with the VA. Oversees competency of staff through regular training and performance evaluations.
