The Department of Occupational and Recreational Therapies at the University of Utah invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Instructor/Assistant Professor (Lecturer) on the Lecturer Track. We will consider applicants with a doctorate (e.g., Ph.D., E.D., post-professional OTD) in occupational therapy or related field. This faculty member must have expertise that will complement and expand our philosophy and mission of teaching, scholarship, and service to the university, community, and profession.The applicant will join a group of dynamic occupational and recreational therapy faculty with diverse teaching/research interests and campus-wide interdisciplinary collaborations. The Life Skills Clinic offers evidence- and occupation-based occupational therapy services to individuals from birth to young adulthood. We have strong partnerships with many of the states healthcare and community agencies. The University is surrounded by four major medical centers that provide unique opportunities for practice, student placement, and research.The Department offers an accredited Bachelor of Recreational Therapy, Master in Occupational Therapy, Master in Recreational Therapy, and has candidacy status for an entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctoral degree. Faculty also participate in the Rehabilitation Science Doctoral program to prepare the next generation of rehabilitation scientists, with Ph.D. students from both the occupational therapy and recreational therapy professions. The Department has a strong history of community engagement offering the first occupational therapy fieldwork program with the refugee/immigrant population in the nation. These programs have a national reputation for successfully preparing future educators and practitioners to work in traditional, non-traditional, and emerging practice areas.The University of Utah is the states oldest and largest institution of higher education, offering over 100 undergraduate and more than 90 graduate degree programs to over 32,000 students. Opportunities to enjoy professional and collegiate sports, including basketball, football, baseball, hockey, gymnastics, and soccer are abundant.Position Available: Instructor/Assistant Professor (Lecturer), Lecturer Track, in the College of Health, Department of Occupational and Recreational Therapies. The position is a full-time 9-month position starting January 1, 2024.Qualifications: The applicant must have an earned post-professional doctorate. This could be in Occupational Therapy or related field from an accredited institution. The applicant must have NBCOT certification and must be eligible for a State of Utah occupational therapy license. Candidates should demonstrate a record of at least 3 years of occupational therapy practice in any setting. Experience in teaching entry-level occupational therapy students is preferred.Responsibilities: Engage in curriculum development for the occupational therapy programs; teach innovative MOT and/or entry-level OTD curricula; engage in scholarly activity in occupational
