The Industrial Plant Electrician will play a key role in maintaining and repairing a variety of equipment and systems, ensuring safe and efficient operations. This position requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and servicing mechanical and electrical systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on Motor Controls.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of maintenance tasks including electrical and mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of equipment and systems.
- Preventative maintenance
- Troubleshooting control & electrical circuits
- Troubleshooting motors & variable frequency drives
- Service trailers and repair and replace industrial equipment as needed.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
- Maintain and repair conveyor systems: install belts, tighten, adjust, straighten, align, and replace parts.
- Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure safe working conditions.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Ensure that all work is completed following safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to work in awkward, confined spaces, using proper lifting and rigging techniques for heavy objects.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include extreme temperatures, hazardous equipment, and slippery surfaces.
- Be self-motivated and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in mechanical/electrical repair within a manufacturing environment.
- Heavy motor control troubleshooting
- Troubleshooting PLCs
- Familiarity with high-voltage wiring, especially 480V 3-phase motors.
- Knowledge and experience with motor control systems (preferred).
- Proficiency in multi-craft maintenance and repair, with a focus on both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and stretching.
- Willingness to work in challenging environments with extreme temperatures, humidity, and hazardous equipment.
- Availability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Strong commitment to safety policies and procedures, minimizing risk to self and others
Education and Experience:
- At least 3 years of electrical training or experience in mechanical/electrical repair within a manufacturing environment
- Maintenance manufacturing experience, technical school training, electrical certification, or welding experience
- Previous experience with industrial machinery and equipment maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent
