Job Title: Industrial Laser Programmer / Operator

Location: Carver Sheet Metal -- 1857 S 3230 W, SLC, UT 84104 Job Type: Full-Time Reports To: Production Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Laser Cutter Programmer / Operator to program, operate, and maintain our laser cutting machine for precision cutting of metal. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC programming, CAD software, metal fabrication experience and an understanding of laser cutting processes to ensure efficient production while maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Programming & Setup:

• • Develop and optimize CNC programs for laser cutting machines using CAD/CAM software.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine parts that require cutting and able to import them with the appropriate machine settings.
  • Adjust laser parameters such as power, speed, and gas flow for different materials and thicknesses.
  • Nest parts on material for optimal efficiency

• Machine Operation & Maintenance:

• • Set up and operate industrial laser cutting machines, ensuring proper alignment and calibration.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Monitor machine performance and conduct inspections to ensure high precision and quality.

• Quality Control & Process Optimization:

• • Inspect cut parts for accuracy, edge quality, and adherence to specifications.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize material usage.
  • Work closely with the fabrication teams to refine designs and improve manufacturability.

• Safety & Compliance:

• • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Technical Skills:

• • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Experience with CNC programming and G-code.
  • Knowledge of laser cutting parameters, materials, and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.

• Experience:

• • 2+ years of experience operating and programming laser cutting machines.
  • Experience with fiber and/or CO laser cutting systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and metal fabrication processes.

• Other Skills:

• • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lift 80lbs unassisted throughout a regular work shift

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in CNC programming or laser cutting operations.
• Experience with nesting software for material optimization.
• Background in sheet metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing.
