ASSOCIATED FOOD STORES, INC. Human Resource Generalist, Salt Lake City, UT in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resource (HR) Generalist has a broad knowledge of HR functions including recruitment, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, company policies governing the treatment of employees, employment and labor law, and employee onboarding, training, and development programs. HR Generalists use this broad knowledge to perform a wide range of HR assignments and tasks such as interpreting and drafting HR policies, generating reports and metrics, employee retention, administering employee benefits and leaves, unemployment hearings, and point of contact for all employees' HR related questions. HR Generalists collaborate with other HR Generalists, HR Managers, and legal counsel as needed and advise department leaders in policy and program matters, recommending proper decisions. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • A Human Resources Generalist remains up to date with employment laws including Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act and other federal and state regulations including compliance with company policy.
  • Support employees on various HR-related issues such as leaves and compensation.
  • Conduct investigations and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Participate in employee relations matters to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and execution of human resource policies.
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics.
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.
  • Document and record all interactions and consider all matters confidential.
  • A Human Resources Generalist ensures compliance with labor regulations.
  • Work on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

     

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in Human Resources or relevant field a plus.
  • Human Resource training or certificates a plus.
  • One-year Human Resource experience preferred.
  • Understanding of general Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws.
  • Sound understanding of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks with detail orientation.
  • Regular on-site attendance is required. Use of personal vehicle needed for occasional travel.
