Position Description

*(DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED CDL LICENSE)*

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Operator will operate heavy machinery for construction, demolition, concrete breaking and removal projects.

*Duties/Responsibilities:*

  • Operates construction, excavation and demolition equipment including excavators, front end loaders and skid steers.

     

  • Ability to load dump trucks with broken concrete utilizing an excavator or front-end loader.

     

  • Ability to break concrete with an excavator with hydraulic breaker.

     

  • Operates machinery used to build and/or demolish bridges, buildings and highways.

     

  • Inspects and fuels equipment prior to beginning shift.

     

  • Communicate clearly with dispatch and supervisors

     

  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs.

     

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

*Required Skills/Abilities:*

  • Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.

     

  • Excellent mechanical skills.

     

  • Ability to follow instructions.

     

  • Proficient in English

     

  • Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards.

*Education and Experience:*

  • High school diploma or equivalent

     

  • 1+ years of experience working with heavy equipment

*Physical Requirements:*

  • Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.

     

  • Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.

     

  • Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.

     

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
