Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Pediatric Leukemia & Lymphoma (Pediatric Oncology)

This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will join our nationally ranked pediatric program at Primary Children’s Hospital (PCH). The APP will have responsibility primarily for Outpatient Leukemia and Lymphoma patients. The ideal candidate will have APP experience with the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology population, although those with prior APP experience or prior Hematology/Oncology experience in a clinical role may be considered.

Our Leukemia and Lymphoma team is comprised of 10 physicians, 4 outpatient APPs, 5 nurse coordinators, 5 social workers, along with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, pharmacists, and administrators. We care for children, adolescents, and young adults—ranging in age from newborn through mid-20s—with malignant blood disorders throughout the Intermountain West. The Leukemia and Lymphoma team is an integral part of our Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant/Cellular Therapy Division and Service line. The service line provides subspecialty care for all pediatric and young adults with cancer and non-malignant blood disorders.

Clinical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: the assessment and evaluation of patients, development of care plans, management of prescriptions, management of infusions and reactions, management of chemotherapy and biotherapy, coordination of home care needs, patient and family education, communication with consulting services, coordination of patient follow-up, completion of procedures (to include lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirates and biopsies, and skin biopsies), inpatient consults as needed, and integration with the multi-disciplinary team to meet patient care needs as appropriate. Participation in quality improvement initiatives and department research is also expected.

Full time and fully benefits-eligible, this APP will typically be scheduled Monday - Friday during regular clinic hours with occasional after-hours infusion center responsibilities. This APP will be primarily based out of the Salt Lake City PCH clinic but will share clinical time in the Lehi clinic on an as-needed basis.

Job Essentials

Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are accountable for the provision of patient care at the top of licensure, within their scope of practice. APP’s are licensed, credentialed and privileged to perform such duties as:

• Maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of disease;

• Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, correction, and consultation;

• Procedures as outlined by specialty, and referral for health problems;

• Education of the patient, patient's family, clinical staff, and others;

• Prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices in accordance with a consultation and referral plan;

• Consultation with other healthcare providers;

• Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care;

• Continually learning and developing for optimal patient care and outcomes.

• Advanced Practice Providers may also participate in research, utilize evidence-based practice to improve quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population throughout our organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).

Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V.

Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.

BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$54.84 - $84.63
