Position Summary
UServeUtah is seeking an AmeriCorps Seniors Program Coordinator who will be responsible for overseeing the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs in Carbon and Emery counties. The selected individual will be responsible for the daily management of these programs including recruitment, training and volunteer placement. The coordinator will be actively involved with volunteers, volunteer locations and community organizations and will communicate and coordinate with the Program Manager and other Program Coordinators in different parts of the state. This is a federally funded grant position.

The Return Utah program is similar to an internship designed for adults looking to re-enter the workforce after an extended absence. These opportunities are structured as return-to-work positions that provide the experience, training, skills, and mentoring an individual needs to return to the workforce.
Return Utah is a 16-week program for people who have taken a career break for at least two years or more for reasons such as starting or raising a family, caring for a family member, chronic illness, enhanced education, other personal/career related needs, etc. Those serving, separated, or retired from military service and their spouses and/or partners are not required to meet the two-year requirement. A career break of any length makes them eligible to participate in the program.
This is a part-time, intent-to-hire Return Utah opportunity. Upon completion of the program, based on performance, participants may receive an offer of employment.
To be eligible for this return-to-work opportunity, candidates must:
- Be on a career break of two or more years at time of application unless currently serving, recently separated, retired from military service, or supporting a military spouse/partner.
- Have prior professional experience in functional area of interest.
Essential Duties
- [Oversee the day-to-day operations of the AmeriCorps Seniors programs in Carbon and Emery counties.]{#isPasted}
- Understand program policies and AmeriCorps Seniors administrative requirements to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate recruiting, selecting, enrolling, orienting, training, recognizing and placing volunteers with community partners.
- Supervise all volunteers to efficiently develop and carry out activities of the program.
- Provide ongoing training and support to volunteers.
- Oversee development, training and coordination of partnerships and program activities with local community partners.
- Develop and maintain close coordinated relationships with volunteer stations, including development of volunteer assignment plans.
- Assess appropriateness and performance of volunteer stations.
- Maintain appropriate program and volunteer records and reports in accordance with federal guidelines.
- Track agreed upon performance measures and coordinate reporting of statistics and outcomes for the program.
- Market and communicate the AmeriCorps Seniors Program and services to the public.
- Participate as a volunteer for organizations and programs with senior populations.
- Perform other work duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities
- [Preferred 2-3 years work experience in public dministration, education, community/regional planning, human services or social/behavioral science or undergraduate degree in a related field. Previous experience working with those over 55 years of age and volunteers a plus.]{#isPasted}
- Interest in and energy for volunteerism and community building.
- Solid organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through in an independent, responsible manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and computer skills.
- Preference may be given to those with experience working with AmeriCorps or AmeriCorps Seniors programs.

Program Specialist I with a salary range of $19.86 - $34.13 or Program Specialist II with a salary range of $24.00 - $36.04. It is anticipated that this position will be hired as a Program Specialist I, but with the opportunity to move to a Program Specialist II.
