Job Description
Job Summary
Manages one or more highly complex or enterprise-wide programs consisting of multiple projects or workstreams with significant impact on business processes and technology used firm wide. Develops the program strategy, supporting business case and high-level project plans. Partners with senior leadership in the business community to identify and prioritize opportunities for utilizing technology to achieve goals. Typically exists in a medium to large size organization with multiple project managers, project leaders and/or project support staff as direct or dotted line reports. Provides leadership and strategic guidance to Project Managers ensuring individual, process and technology objectives are achieved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures integration of many complex projects and adjusts project scope, timing, and budgets as needed, based on the needs of the business.
Communicates with senior leadership and business consultants to communicate large program strategies, direction, and changes.
Proposes, implements and facilitates program governance structures.
Represents Executive Sponsor throughout day–to–day program activities and decisions.
Performs project risk assessments, including identifying key risk factors, providing effective mitigation strategies and assigning contingency action plans to both schedules and budgets.
Manages programs, including applying established methodologies, using change control templates and processes; managing time and recording activities using defined scheduling tools; monitoring budgets; coordinating resource acquisition and utilization; serving as a liaison with internal customers and external suppliers; and communicating regularly with project stakeholders.
Responsible for developing integrated program plans that detail program objectives, business case, structure, approach, budgets and schedules.
Builds and maintains strong relationship with clients, stakeholders, steering committees and executive sponsors to ensure stakeholder groups align to meet the client’s needs.
Knowledge of
Extensive knowledge and expertise in project management methodologies, systems, and tools.
Advanced concepts of risk management, issue tracking, change management and requirements gathering
Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.
Principles of project accounting, budgeting, and cost control policies and procedures.
Principles of procurement, contract and vendor management
Business planning and analysis
Business Process reengineering.
Skill in
Enterprise implementation, leadership experience, strategic planning, business acumen, application development, change management.
Managing large scale programs throughout their lifecycle.
Identifying and managing program and project resource needs.
Developing, preparing, presenting and maintaining program plans.
Establishing working relationships with business units.
Refining and implementing program management methodologies, tools and practices.
Ability to
Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions.
Support multiple large-scale programs with multiple complex dependencies across multiple large programs in a fast-paced and dynamically changing environment to execute program deliverables.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels.
Develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
Plan, assign, monitor, review, evaluate and lead the work of others.
Facilitate information gathering sessions ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are included in the program specifications.
Identify program stakeholders and analyze their needs appropriately.
Attention to detail while maintaining a big picture orientation.
Education/Previous Experience
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree, or 10 years of related experience including management or leadership experience and project life cycle methodologies and standards or combination of education, training and experience.
