Job Description

This position will follow our hybrid work model, we expect the selected candidate to be in office 2-3 days a week(10-12 days a month ) at the following office location: St. Petersburg, FL.

Hybrid work arrangements are subject to change based on business needs.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Director to lead application development, integration, and platform modernization for the Private Market, Alternative & Structured Investments business. The ideal candidate is a former experienced hands-on developer with extensive experience in enterprise-scale application development. Experienced in financial services technology, with a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges and requirements. A strong leader with 7-8 years of leadership experience, capable of driving innovation, modernizing platforms, and managing high-performing teams.

This role requires close collaboration with the business teams to define innovative technology solutions, enhance platform capabilities, and seamlessly integrate with enterprise and third-party systems. The selected candidate will lead the modernization of existing platforms, incorporate industry-leading capabilities, ensure the reliability and efficiency of production applications, and drive strategic build vs. buy decisions to deliver optimal business solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and integration of applications supporting business area, ensuring seamless operation.

  • Architect full-stack applications using Angular, Java, and Oracle, ensuring security, scalability, and performance.

  • Integrate with back-office platforms, enterprise services, and third-party applications to enhance business functionality.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, analysts, and testers.

  • Drive the modernization of the existing platform, ensuring adoption of modern architectures and scalable infrastructure.

  • Lead the migration of legacy applications to modern solutions where applicable.

  • Oversee the optimization of application performance, data processing, and user experience.

  • Evaluate third-party products and solutions available in the corresponding business space and assess their fit for solving business challenges.

  • Provide strategic recommendations on build vs. buy decisions, ensuring the most effective and cost-efficient solutions. Justify technology selection with clear rationale, balancing innovation, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

Leadership & Execution

  • Lead a talented team of managers, engineers, testers, and business analysts to drive high-quality execution.

  • Ensure successful delivery of projects, aligning with business priorities and technology roadmaps.

  • Provide day-to-day operational oversight, ensuring application stability and performance in production environments.

  • Lead production support efforts, addressing issues proactively and ensuring timely resolution to minimize business impact.

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time delivery of strategic initiatives.

Skills

  • Proven experience leading large-scale application development, platform modernization, and technology transformation projects.

  • Strong full-stack development expertise with Angular, Java, Oracle, and enterprise system integration.

  • Experience evaluating and integrating third-party solutions, with a strong understanding of build vs. buy strategies.

  • Experience with financial services technology, focusing on one or more in Wealth Management, Private Market, Alternative & Structured Investments.

  • Leadership experience (7-8 years), with a track record of mentoring teams and driving innovation.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
