G.A. Food Service, Inc. Assistant Production Manager in Saint Petersburg, Florida

Must have the following in order to apply:

  • Associate degree.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience and demonstrate the ability to lead, manage and build a team while creating a certain work environment.
  • Computer skills including MS Office.
  • English communication skills both written and verbal, and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of associates and teams.
  • Proven analytical and decision-making skills, able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause.
  • Must be able to work weekend and off shift hours as required.
  • Experience with production systems and processes.
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills, ability to multi-task effectively, be proactive and work independently while using effective delegation and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to be opened-minded and receptive to change. Support the goals and initiatives of management and able to assist in any area.
  • Ability to continue to develop and broaden an extensive knowledge of relevant areas of expertise.
  • Ability to lift, kneel, and bend packages in excess of 50 lbs for 1/3 of a work shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety programs and USDA regulations.

Job Description: Assistant Production Manager will assist the Production Manager with production planning, scheduling, supervising full-time and temporary staff in various-volume, and lead a safe and productive work environment. The Assistant Production Manager will be a leader and decision maker with the ability to problem-solve in a production setting. This individual must assist in creating a team-based environment fostering open communication and seeking input regarding production, safety, and quality issues from all levels of staff. Assistant Production Manager Responsibilities:

  • Plan, communicate and monitor raw material needs per production demand.
  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures for production duties.
  • Problem solve and implement solutions.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement plans to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Adhere to GMP's.
  • Participate in the formulation and/or approval of short- and long-term operating objectives in areas such as cost reduction, quality improvement, new product development and/or integration as undertaken at the plant level.
  • Remain current on matters relating to production methods, formulations, analytical techniques, and federal regulations as they relate to the company's products.
  • Develop action plans for improvement, as necessary.
  • Perform special projects and responsibilities as needed.
  • Providing effective direction and coordination of all assigned operational activities.
  • Leading and assuring a safe working environment and compliance with Food Safety Standards.
  • Complete administrative tasks and documentation as required.
  • Providing leadership of continuous improvement processes.
