Pearson Senior Director, Market Presence in Saint Paul, Minnesota

About the role

The Senior Director Market Presence will be responsible for leading Pearson’s top tier event strategy. This role will ensure the company’s presence at these events reflects a strong, cohesive brand and drives meaningful business outcomes. The Senior Director, Market Presence will develop high-level event strategies, oversee the execution of event plans, and ensure alignment between event goals and broader business objectives. As a leader, this role will lead a cross-function team focused on strategic brand & leadership positioning and maximizing event impact and ROI.

This leader will be responsible for managing relationships with key partner stakeholders at organizations such as World Economic Forum, Future Investment Initiative and ASU-GSV as well as partners such as AWS, Microsoft and Google.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the VP, Market Presence to establish a full corporate events strategy, including determining an annual slate of corporate events that help build Pearson's visibility.

  • Develop and lead innovative event strategies to enhance Pearson's brand presence and engagement for major events bringing to life one Pearson across integrated across its diversified portfolio.

  • Conveene and lead a team of cross functional experts from across Pearson to execute major corporate events (business/sales, social, brand, digital, corporate communications, internal communications, thought leadership).

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and operational guidance to ensure seamless execution of these top tier events.

  • Align event objectives with corporate marketing initiatives and broader business goals to optimize return on investment (ROI).

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and leadership teams, to integrate event strategies into overarching marketing campaigns, product launches and business rhythms.

  • Establish measurable goals and criteria for event success, track performance, and implement continuous improvements based on feedback and data.

  • Drive strategic planning for event budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with company objectives while reporting on the ROI of all top tier events.

  • Maintain brand consistency across all event touchpoints, ensuring alignment with Pearson's corporate identity and messaging.

  • Build and maintain relationships with industry associations, vendors, and other key partners to optimize event planning and execution.

  • Regularly update leadership on event plans, roadblocks, successes, and strategic insights to inform broader marketing initiatives.

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business, brand / content / event management, or a related discipline.

  • 8+ years of experience in event or campaign planning and execution, with a proven track record of strategic leadership.

  • Experience and comfort working in a highly matrixed environment

  • At least 3 years of experience in mentoring and developing talent.

  • Proficiency in project management platforms and software, including Google Suite, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Monday.com.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with proven experience collaborating with executive and senior management teams.

  • Strong negotiation, project management, and budgeting skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with complex components simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

Minimum full-time salary range is between $170,000 - $200,000.
