Job Title: Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Accountant to manage accounting and planning preparation, support accounting functions, reconcile accounts, coordinate accounting and planning activities, and lead project and process improvements. This role requires a strong understanding of GAAP, FCA, and internal accounting standards, along with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
Prepares and posts journal entries with supporting documentation.
Ensures compliance with GAAP, FCA, and internal accounting standards.
Verifies, determines codes, and keys data for invoices.
Performs various accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets duties.
Reconciles clients' cash clearing accounts and ensures they remain within the threshold.
Maintains Board of Directors master file, including payments, reconciliation of activity, and responsibility for reportable income tax documents.
Assists team members on balancing system and cash-related processes.
Researches and escalates issues to achieve resolution.
Prepares journal entries as needed.
Processes accounts payable, receivable, fixed assets, and enters data as needed.
Monitors and reconciles assigned accounts daily, weekly, or monthly.
Identifies, researches, and resolves reconciling items, escalating to achieve resolution.
Contacts clients or other departments to gather information and resolve issues.
Prepares and submits journal entries to correct items discovered during reconciliation.
Provides guidance to team members on cash account reconciliation.
Resolves issues with clients and follows up to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
Calculates significant and/or complex accounting processes.
Performs and participates in training for team members and processes as needed.
Reviews and prepares or coordinates fulfillment of requests from departments, auditors, and other third parties.
Assists with preparation and execution of applicable ICFR controls related to user access reviews, vendor maintenance reviews, and daily AP reconciliation.
Coordinates and monitors close cycle processing for AP and FA, including reportable income preparation, asset capitalization, and vendor record reviews.
Participates in project teams, executes test plans, and maintains documentation on procedures.
Reviews, recommends, or leads process improvements, acting as SME when appropriate.
Implements improvements and documents new or revised procedures.
Communicates process changes to stakeholders.
Acts as liaison between Accounting and Board of Directors.
Responds to client requests via Self Service tool, email, or phone.
Resolves client questions and concerns, and communicates resolution in a timely manner.
Assists clients in resolving accounting issues by completing research and recommending solutions.
Essential Skills
5+ years of overall accounting experience (at least 2+ years at the Senior level).
2+ years of large company (200mil+) Senior Accounting experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2+ years of advanced Excel experience (Pivot Tables, V-lookups, Macros).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with accounting, general ledger, month-end, quarter-end, reporting, 1099, and internal controls.
Work Environment
The role offers the flexibility to be fully remote, with the requirement to travel quarterly to the St. Paul office (all travel and hotel stays are paid for). The office is located in Downtown St. Paul in a beautiful building with excellent workspaces. If local, the candidate will be in the office at least one day a week with paid parking. This is a long-term opportunity with a 10% bonus potential based on a mix of company and individual performance. The position involves significant project work, including the implementation of DNA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
