Robert Half Sales & Use Tax Manager in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Description We are seeking a skilled Sales & Use Tax Manager to join our team in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The primary function of this role is to oversee sales and use tax compliance, manage audits, and provide guidance on tax-related matters. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of multi-state sales and use tax regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the accurate and timely filing and remittance of sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.

• Lead the creation and implementation of sales and use tax strategies.

• Collaborate with operational teams on sales and use tax subjects.

• Develop and maintain a tool to assist Operations with job estimates in relation to sales tax.

• Manage sales and use tax audits, which includes responding to audit inquiries, gathering necessary documentation, and negotiating with tax authorities.

• Conduct research and analysis on complex sales and use tax matters, providing recommendations to internal stakeholders.

• Keep up-to-date with tax laws and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with evolving requirements.

• Address sales and use tax inquiries from business units, vendors, and customers.

• Drive tax planning initiatives and provide recommendations to minimize tax liabilities.

• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in sales tax reporting and compliance.

• Lead tax technology efforts and automation initiatives to streamline tax reporting and operational tasks.

• Provide training and education related to Sales and Use Tax to internal departments, such as accounting, finance, and operations, to address tax-related matters and ensure proper tax treatment of transactions.

• Document procedures and research support.

• Lead special projects and tax research as needed. Requirements • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat

• Experience with ATX Tax Software

• Competence in utilizing CCH ProSystem Fx

• Knowledge of CCH Sales Tax

• Ability to work with Compliance software

• Strong understanding of Accounting Functions

• Familiarity with Annual Income Tax Provision

• Auditing skills

• Compliance abilities

• Good at Documentation

• Expertise in Tax - Sales & Use

• Experience with Vertex Sales & Use Tax

• Background in Construction

• Proficiency in Avalara

• Skills in Process Improvement

• Experience in leading Process Improvement Initiatives

• Ability to manage Process Improvement Projects
