NewGround Project Architect / Architectural Specialist II in Saint Louis, Missouri

This position is a Project Architect / Architectural Specialist II for the St. Louis, MO design studio. This team member will be primarily responsible for the development of construction documents. This position will also be responsible for the coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and civil engineers. Persistence for solving problems, listening to feedback from all team members, and having an ability to prioritize and pivot quickly from task to task are essential for success.

GENERAL SKILLS

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and experience with rendering programs such as Enscape, Lumion, etc.

• Well organized and able to work collaboratively in a team environment

• Ability to manage several projects at once at different stages of development

• Ability to solve problems quickly, take and act on feedback, and collaborate effectively with team members, consultants, and clients

• Able to work independently and proactively communicate with team and supervisor

• Ability to document architectural building systems including, but not limited to, exterior wall systems, roofing systems, and storefront systems

• Able to solve problems while balancing details with the bigger picture

• Understanding and knowledge of building codes and zoning regulations

• Understanding and knowledge of building systems and site requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Independently produce complete construction documents for renovation projects

• Coordinate with MEP, Structural and Civil Engineers

• Coordinate work with internal design team (interiors, environmental graphics, build)

• Perform site surveys, code research, zoning research, and due diligence

• Participate in client design meetings

• Coordinate with local project AHJ's

• Perform required Construction Administration tasks (RFI's, ASI's, shop drawing review, punch list)

• Make site visits as necessary

• Assist in the preparation in specifications

• Knowledgeable on application of building regulations to projects

• Ensure projects are on schedule and within budget

• Perform all other related work, as assigned or as apparent

EXPECTATIONS

• Travel as required

• Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and with other disciplines

• Strong passion for construction documents and detailing, preferably renovation projects

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES

• Project Architect:

o Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field required

o 6 years of professional experience in Architecture required

• Architectural Specialist II:

o Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field preferred

o 3 years of professional experience in Architecture required

• Project Architect / Architectural Specialist II:

o 2 years of experience with Revit, not just classroom training

o Architectural License preferred

o LEED accreditation preferred
