Cooke Aquaculture Health & Safety Specialist in Saint George, New Brunswick

The Role

As a result of continued growth, we are seeking a Health & Safety Specialist in our Blacks Harbour, NB office. This position will report directly to the Director of Health & Safety. The successful candidate will have the drive, determination, and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet the established criteria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with provincial Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations

  • Ensure employee compliance with company H&S Programs, policies and procedures

  • Conduct H&S site inspections and audits

  • Assist managers with incident investigations, follow-up on corrective actions

  • Assist managers in developing safe work practices and implementing industry best practices and standards

  • Ensure timely safety data entry and incident reporting to ensure accurate reporting and timely corrective actions are implemented

  • Assist management to develop practices for integrating health and safety into all business operations

    Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze problems and make appropriate recommendations

  • Knowledge of Provincial OHS Act and Regulations and Canada Labour Code

  • Skills in incident injury analysis and investigation

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and comfortable handling conflict

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience working in the Health & Safety field

  • Experience in a marine environment an asset

  • Experience in a food processing plant an asset

  • Health & Safety certificate and/or diploma an asset

  • Ability to travel within the Atlantic Provinces when required, potentially on short notice
