Position Title:Production Supervisor - 1st Shift

Location:St. Charles, MO

Primary Responsibilities:

The Production Shop Floor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the shop floor, ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining quality standards, and managing production teams. This role requires a strong leader with excellent communication and organizational skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to foster a safe and productive work environment.

This work environment is dynamic and versatile in nature, this role requires a high level of adaptability, as daily tasks and priorities may shift based on the evolving needs of the day. The ability to pivot and manage changing responsibilities is essential to success in this position.

  • Manage, train, and supervise teams of skilled trade production workers.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to ensure optimal workflow and productivity.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, and disciplinary action, as needed.
  • Responsible for fostering a positive attitude, serving as a role model, and demonstrating effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Oversee daily production activities to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., maintenance, quality control, logistics) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Ensure that all products meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the production process.
  • Address and resolve any quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on IQS noncompliance, corrections, and solutions to nonconformance materials and discrepancies.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure safety of shop floor employees through good housekeeping and safe practices by way of daily shop walks to identify potential safety risks and/or issues. Ensure safety audits are completed on schedule.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to order supplies and materials, as needed.
  • Optimize resource allocation to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
  • Document and report any incidents, accidents, or equipment malfunctions.
  • Bring attention of roadblocks/inefficiencies to the Operations Manager, Engineering and Project Managers.
  • Ensures proper oversight of all shop equipment maintenance and reports any issues to the Operations Manager and Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Notify Operations Manager of any manpower needs including outside abor, as needed.
  • Partner closely with Operations Manager and Human Resources to ensure adherence to company policy and procedures.
  • Make sure lots are cleared and assist crews when short staffed.
  • Make sure job books are kept up-to-date in accordance to ISO standards.

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing production environment.
  • 2+ years previous supervisory experience.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong leadership, professionalism, and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Customer service skills to support internal/external customers with a \"can-do\" attitude.
  • Organizational skills to execute job duties in a timely manner.
  • Must demonstrate a consistent and stable work history, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
