Central Maine Medical Center CNA/Certified Medicine Tech, Full-time Days, Rumford Community Home, LTC in Rumford, Maine

Rumford Community Home is seeking a CNA/Med Tech to join our team! This is a full-time 40-hours benefits eligible position. Starting pay is $22.00 plus a Sign-On Bonus of $2500.

This is a CNA/Med Tech position with our Rumford Community Homes Long Term Care Facility in Rumford, Maine. The CNA/Med Tech is responsible for the medication administration of assigned nursing unit.

Qualifications:

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Maine.

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant/ Medication certification in the state of Maine.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous experience in Long Term Care resident care helpful.

  • Ability to maintain flexible, relaxed attitude in response to difficult situations.

  • Good listening and communication skills.

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate routine information.

  • Must possess willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.

  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.

  • Must have willingness to handle difficult residents.

    Essential Duties:

  • Administers medication by oral, rectal, topical, inhalation, eye or ear routes, under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.

  • Performs the following nursing documentation as assigned by the charge nurse or supervisor.

  • Partial Admission:

  • Takes initial vital signs and measurements and documents them on the vital sign flowsheet.

  • Assists with orientation of patient/resident/family to unit, facility and services.

  • Plan of Care:

  • Delivers patient/resident care promptly and accurately as directed by the RN/LPN and in accordance with the patient’s/resident’s written plan of care.

  • Contributes relevant and appropriate information to RN/LPN for revision of the plan of care, and interdisciplinary conferences as appropriate.

  • Reinforces compliance of RN/LPN teaching and plan of care.

  • Performs safe patient care according to policy and procedure

  • Obtains and promptly records routine:

  • Vital Signs

  • Heights and weights as indicated.

  • Reports changes in vital signs or measurements promptly to the Supervisor/Charge Nurse.

  • Assists the patient/resident with routine activities of daily living.

  • Skin Care: assists with maintaining skin integrity and reports all pressure areas/sores to RN/LPN.

  • Assists with the following duties as directed:

  • May be assigned to transport residents in facility-owned vehicles.

  • ensures that the duties outlined in the “Transportation Aide” job description are followed when performing this task.

  • Prepares patient’s/resident’s room for admission, discharge and transfer.

  • Maintains a neat, clean and safe environment.

EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT

  • Attends at least (12) twelve role related in-services per year.

  • Attends and participates in related in-services, conferences and meetings if applicable.

  • Communicates personal and work-related needs clearly to the DON/Charge Nurse.

  • Seeks feedback to enhance own performance.

  • Manifests desired behavior change in response to guidance.
