DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Job Description: This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career.

Here, you will make an impact by: * Read, understand and follow work orders, blueprints & engineering drawings. * Perform all department operations consistently at standard productivity and quality levels. * Maintain a clean and safe work environment, good personal safety record, report unsafe acts, conditions or equipment, keep current with safety policies. * Actively wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the department including safety glasses and safety shoes. * Select tools & select/create work holding for optimum productivity. * Set-up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders as needed to machine parts to print specification. * Measure and verify setups and parts by measuring positions, first-run parts and sample work pieces utilizing: comparator, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, height gages, indicators and other measuring equipment needed. * Report time and material in manufacturing systems.
Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: * High School Diploma/GED or higher. * Minimum one (1) year of machinist experience in private, public, government or military environment and/or Technical School. * Requires taking and scoring Medium or High in the Global Advanced Manufacturing Battery Test (GAMB).
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: * Strong conceptual skills. * Three (3) years of related experience. * Functional and technical skills. * Understanding controls and instrumentation. * Attention to detail and have sound judgment.

The starting rate of pay for this position is $26.76 per hour with the potential to reach $27.84 per hour. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
