Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Department Manager . This position is located in Roy, UT and Huntsville, AL.

What you will do:

  • Provide oversight and assistance to multiple programs within the Division portfolio (Sentinel GBSD and ICBM Sustainment); to provide the people, skills, and processes for successful achievement of program goals.

  • Provide enabling support for all business areas within the SDS portfolio including the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.

  • Analyze current release process, gaps, and resolution to ensure throughput of PDP releases at design review milestones.

  • Own and lead improvements across design department for employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention of top talent.

  • Mentor, develop, and train section managers and overall employee base.

  • Supporting proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup, audits, and special assignments on an as needed basis.

  • Create and manage high performing teams while providing technical, administrative and management expertise in the day-to-day activities required to successfully execute complex engineering programs.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 8 years of experience; 6 years with Master’s; 3 years with PhD.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). Must have the ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance.

  • Minimum of 3 years in a formal lead/ management position.

  • At least 1 year of experience working in the Aerospace and or the Defense field.

  • 3 years of experience as CAM and or EVMS.

  • 3 years of experience mentoring and collaborating with senior management, peers, and employees.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience working on ICBMs.

  • Active TS Clearance, program access.

  • Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira.

  • Experience managing an engineering team is preferred.

  • Experience creating or growing new sections or departments.

  • Working knowledge and/or experience across engineering disciplines.

  • General understanding of Northrop Grumman engineering processes.

  • Proven performance as an engineering leader in all phases of acquisition, design, integration, and execution.

  • Ability to rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group as well as demonstrated mentoring and guidance to engineers.

Salary Range: $161,500.00 - $267,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
