Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Tech - Basic provides quick, quality care and transport to critically ill or injured patients in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions of the Role
Provides critical care interventions and patient transport independently. Delivers quality care to a varied patient population. Operates ambulance safely and appropriately at all times.
Performs patient assessments and evaluations effectively and promptly. Institutes treatment plans prioritized appropriately and within TDHS care guidelines.
Evaluates patient status to monitor intervention effectiveness. Revises treatment plans promptly and effectively as needed.
Responds quickly to patients' request for assistance with personal hygiene needs.
Documents and organizes patient care information accurately and thoroughly, with no more than 5% of service reports returned for completion.
Complete the daily checklist for assigned ambulances. Ensure the ambulance is always ready to respond quickly to emergencies.
Change cot linen and remove soiled items, dirt, and trash after each run. Notify the appropriate personnel immediately when supplies and equipment are unavailable for stocking the unit.
Maintains cleanliness and functionality of cleaning, sleeping, and crew quarter areas regularly. Performs daily tasks to keep the ambulance bay clean and safe.
Key Success Factors
Earned Instructor status preferred.
Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), PALS, and instructor certifications preferred.
Knows about and completes professional and technical requirements and provides necessary documentation on such requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Emerg Med Tech - Basic (EMT-B)
Drivers License (TXDL): If moving from out of state must obtain valid TX DL within 90 days of hire.
