This position is located at Waters Edge in Roseville. The incumbent may have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule depending on business needs. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.
This position exists to provide project management, direction and leadership from inception to completion of projects and studies in Hennepin County. The position serves as the primary contact for public agencies, project partners and the general public regarding project activities. This position exists to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, public officials, internal & external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of advanced-professional experience that demonstrates:
· Experience in Transportation/Transit project management sufficient to prioritize and schedule multiple projects to meet letting schedules; critique and evaluate the work of transportation staff to assure work quality and improve work processes; and manage budgets and staff.
· Experience utilizing transportation techniques and tools for public engagement
· Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations, policies and codes as they relate to transportation system planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation.
· Experience advising and providing technical assistance to state, regional, metropolitan and local agency staff and committees regarding Transportation plans and/or programs.
NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in planning, Human Geography, Urban Studies, Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field may substitute for six months of experience.
If advanced to the finalist pool, you will be assessed on the following criteria during a job interview:
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prepare constructive reports/presentations and keep accurate records.
· Human Relations skills that demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the public, businesses, elected officials and other governmental organizations.
· Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing sufficient to give direction, facilitate meetings, make public presentations, answer project specific and policy questions, and to write letters and other documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
· Graduate degree in Planning, Human Geography, Urban Studies, Political Science or a related field
· Five years of advanced transportation planning experience;
· Experience managing consultant contracts
· Experience negotiating project details, cost participation, and funding
· A valid Class D Driver’s License with no major traffic convictions in the past 5 years; OR 4 or more minor violations in the last 3 years; OR any combination of minor violations and at-fault accidents totaling 4 or more occurrences.
