Salvation Army Staff Accountant - Payroll in Roseville, Minnesota

Position Summary The Salvation Army Northern Division Headquarters (DHQ) in Roseville, MN is doing the most good by supporting our worship and service centers, community outreach, and housing programs that serve local communities. The Staff Accountant - Payroll is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of payroll processing and reporting for over 500 employees. 2445 Prior Ave N, Roseville, MN 55735 $58,000 - $62,000 annually Essential Functions (approximate time spent) Record payroll activities through accurate journal entries, reconcile payroll ledger accounts monthly and promptly research and resolve any reconciliation discrepancies (35%). Prepare various additional information and perform calculations, such as pension billing, fringe benefit values, worker's compensation wage reports, and audit reports. (35%). Process payroll with precision and promptness (25%). Serve as a liaison between the field and employees, collaborating closely with Human Resources on employee-related matters (5%). Education and Experience Associate's degree in accounting. Instead of a degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered. Previous payroll and accounting experience. Pass background checks. Valid driver's license and meet MVR driver's qualifications preferred. Competencies Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Excel required. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. High level of honor in dealing with confidential information. Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence. Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, Adobe, General Ledgers, and standard office equipment. Working Conditions Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to occasionally lift 30 pounds at a time. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, and work in person or on the phone.
