West Marine Distribution Center Operations Manager- Third Shift in Rock Hill, South Carolina

The Distribution Operations Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of Inbound and Outbound Distribution Operations, staff supervision and collaboration with Inventory Control & Transportation functional partners. The Distribution Operations Manager will play a key role in optimizing processes, improving productivity, and ensuring timely delivery of products to all stores and customers.

Essential Job Functions:

· Sustains a safe and healthy work environment through effective support and compliance of all behavior-based safety and security programs

· Leads, motivates, and supports an Operations Team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including career development plans for direct reports and problem resolution

· Demonstrates Dignity, Respect, Caring & Candor in each encounter with all Crew Members, vendors, and visitors and serves as an ambassador of our company culture

· Manages data collection for the updating of metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service

· Develops and implements strategies to optimize distribution layout and process flow, and focuses on continuous improvement

· Partners with Transportation Leadership to ensure timely delivery of products to stores and customers while minimizing costs

· Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Merchandising, Sales, and Customer Service, to meet store and customer requirements and effectively resolve issues

· Interviews, selects and oversees the on-boarding of Distribution Leadership and Hourly Crew Members

· Stays current on industry trends, technologies and best practices to continuously improve distribution operations

· Ensures compliance with all company & departmental policies, procedures, ethical standards, and codes of conduct at all times

· Performs other assignments as requested or as business needs require

Qualifications Required:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or equivalent experience

Experience:

• Proven experience (5+ years) in distribution operations leadership role, preferably in a fast-paced environment

• Knowledge of computer software including MS Office, ERP and Warehouse Management Systems

Skills:

• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team

• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

• Innovative change management agent who drives operational excellence initiatives

• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse and transportation operations

• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve common goals

Financial Responsibility and Authority:

Annual Forecasted Revenue Responsibility: N/A

Annual Cost Management Responsibility: $14.4M

Leadership Responsibility: Inbound, Selection, WCF and Outbound Departments

Position is routinely exposed to hot and cold temperatures during Summer and Winter months in the Distribution Center
