Job Description:

The YEC is an hourly position (approximately 20-25 hours/week) to collaborate with the DFC Project Coordinator and Program Director in the execution of grant funded projects. We are seeking a dedicated Youth Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with youth and coordinating various activities and events to engage and support young individuals in the Town of Irondequoit. The candidate will also be tasked with overseeing Uplift Irondequoits events and volunteer management for community events. Must be able to use effective time management to complete tasks and follow through on assignments, project implementation, tracking outreach, social media maintenance, and provide support to the organization in its goals in substance use prevention. Will need to be able to work independently on specific tasks.

The schedule for this job is flexible and candidate will need to be able to adapt to the needs of the organization. Majority of schedule will be during regular business hours but will be required to work after regular business hours for youth meetings and community events, this includes some weekend dates. Must have a valid drivers license and personal vehicle for materials distribution. There is a possibility for this position to become full time at the end of September 2024.

Responsibilities: Oversee and develop the Uplift youth committee, focused on engaging youth in Irondequoit on substance use prevention projects. Collaborate with community partners and coalition members, such as the Substance Use Counselors in East Irondequoit CSD and West Irondequoit CSD and Reality Check Coordinator, to enhance program offerings. Communicate effectively to youth, parents and stakeholders. Develop a robust youth committee engaging youth ages 12-18 in the Town of Irondequoit to participate in substance use prevention projects. Provide guidance to youth and coalition members on current initiatives for reducing youth substance use in Irondequoit. Collaborate with DFC project coordinator to complete youth-based projects required and oversee grant specific events. Coordinate with grant coordinators on finances needed to complete projects and support community events. Data entry in REACH program for coalition outcomes from youth committee and associated projects. Assist coordinators with capacity building as needed by tracking and contacting community partners to support outreach goals within this grants targeted area: Town of Irondequoit. Assist in oversight of volunteers for community events including outreach, training, and communication. Distribution of materials, set up events, coordinating volunteers and coordination of specific tasks with partners as determined with the Steering Committee. Assist in REACH data entry on community outreach. Attendance at all Coalition at Large and sub-committee meetings. Approximately 4-5 meetings/month. Maintenance and organization of materials related to the coalition. Attendance at any training provided through this grant and the Coalition at Large.

Qualifications:

Minimum AAS degree required plus either:

At least two years of experience with youth programming, and/or working in a not-for-profit agency. Graduation with a B.A. or B.S. degree in Public Health, or at least 30 semester credit hours in Public Health or a related degree. Experience or education will be reviewed in replacement of either of these qualifications.
