Arnold Magnetics Prototype Machinist in Rochester, New York
Job purpose
Individual will be responsible for producing, modifying and repairing tools used in the manufacturing process. Must have 10+ years of experience reading prints and using mills, lathe, surface grinders and other standard tool room machines to make parts to print. Must have good attention to detail and accustom to working and measuring to close tolerance and delicate parts. Responsible for maintaining work quality and doing in process inspection.
Essential Duties
Assembling, fitting and repairing tools
Following engineering drawings, including interpreting GD&T
Using 2D and 3D computer aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM)
Assisting with tool maintenance
Teach basic machine operation to floor operators as required
Give experienced input to tooling designs for better manufacturability
Complete production operations requiring tool room machines
Other tasks not listed here that arise from an ever-growing environment
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED/Technical Training Certificate/Equivalent experience.
Work experience: Journeyman Tool & Die Maker or equivalent with 5+ years of experience.
Ability to read engineering prints with high understanding of GD& T
High competency using micrometers, indicators, calipers, etc.
Requires intermittent long periods of standing and/or walking
Periodic lifting of materials not to exceed 40 pounds
Willing to work beyond normal hours if needed
Subject to stressful situations
An understanding of both Metric and English measuring systems
Ability to write and edit programs with understanding of cutting parameters
Ability to use Manual Knee Mill, Manual Lathe, Grinder, Machine Tools, Inspection and measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators and power hand tools
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Standard work week is Monday through Friday, hours to be consistent with business unit; some off hours work expected
Generally working in Office with some activities in production environment.
Repetitive motion
Some day or overnight travel domestically could be required.
