FIFCO USA Occ Health Nurse Practitioner in Rochester, New York

JOB SUMMARY

Operate a comprehensive and well-integrated Medical Department in support of organizational business goals. Ensure that employees receive optimal evaluation and treatment for injuries and/or illnesses that arise because of work activities. Assist in the prevention of employee injuries and illnesses and promote employee wellness and safety. Serve as medical and health information resource for employees. Assist in reporting injuries and illnesses to applicable insurance and regulatory agencies as required by law. Provide medical case management for employee occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries to facilitate early return-to-work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Medical management of occupational injuries, including referrals as required.

  • Pre-placement medical evaluation and assessment of physical abilities to ensure applicant fitness-for-duty to meet the requirements of the applied-for position.

  • Manage programs such as forklift physicals, respirator fit testing, hearing conservation program, CPR instruction, wellness programs, ergonomics, etc.

  • Assess employee occupational injuries and illnesses and, if care beyond first aid is required, provide a referral to the appropriate medical resource.

  • Coordinate health care services for workers from onset of injury or illness until return to work. Coordinate return to work with transitional alternatives when appropriate and available.

  • Follow established return to work, accommodation processes.

  • Interface with external medical providers to provide timely, effective and the most cost-effective options for treatment.

  • Provide employer-required paperwork and medical reports for WC. Participate in claim reviews with WC brokers, insurance carriers and key management personnel.

  • Comprehensive pre-placement applicant medical history review and arrangement for further medical evaluation and physical examination as indicated and appropriate. Perform on-site collections and reporting functions for pre-employment drug testing. Education regarding proper body mechanics and hearing protection. Coordinate with HR regarding pre-placement medical status of applicants.

  • Coordinate health and wellness programs for the company.

  • Train Security personnel regarding processes and procedures for DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing of employees relative to for-cause and random drug and alcohol testing programs.

  • Train First Responders regarding CPR, First Aid and OSHA-mandated blood-borne pathogen protection. Train Environmental Services regarding blood-borne pathogen protection.

  • Coordinate and administer the Respirator Fit Test Program in conjunction with SH&E to maintain OSHA compliance.

  • Administer forklift fitness-for-duty medical evaluation program for 350+ employees at a minimum frequency of every three years - more frequently depending on medical condition(s).

  • Manage and administer annual influenza vaccination program to reduce illness absence impact to the business.

  • Ergonomics evaluations - assessing work sites and making appropriate ergonomic and biomechanical recommendations.

  • Medical Emergencies - respond, assess and manage emergency medical situations. Assist Security with off-shift situations.

  • Communicate with leave coordinator regarding employee return-to-work dates.

  • Maintain the highest level of confidentially of medical information and maintain medical record security at all times. Meet all HIPAA and ADA requirements.

  • Maintain up-to-date DOT and forklift medical evaluation, hearing test, fit test, safety glass, budget, leave, and modified-duty records and related medical data.

  • Maintain currency with federal, state, local and company, compliances i.g. DOT, blood borne pathogen, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, hazwhopper, ADA, FML, etc.

  • This is a day shift position but must have the ability to be flexible with work hours occasionally to see employees working off shifts.

    EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Nurse Practitioner License required.

  • 5-10 years minimum in Occupational Health, Industrial setting preferred.

  • Nurse Practitioner Specialty Certification

  • DOT Medical Examiner Certificate, preferred

  • Certified Drug and Alcohol Testing Trainer, preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Counseling/Coaching skills

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Knowledge of current best practices in occupational health, wound and orthopedic treatment

  • Good computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office

    In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $100,500 -$137,500, not including benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at FIFCO USA, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition, we also believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to enable future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous benefits package!
