University of Rochester Dental Lab Tech 1 in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Provides basic dental laboratory procedures under the supervision of a Sr. Dental Technologist, Administrator, or faculty dentist in EIOH. Exercises standard skill, judgment, and knowledge of the terminology and common procedures and practices of the dental lab.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Designs and fabricates simple dental removable prostheses, using mostly conventional analog workflows. Complete Dentures: Pours master casts, fabricates wax occlusal rims, mounts casts on articulators, process and finish teeth in balanced occlusion. Partials: Survey and design framework, wax and process teeth to bases.

  2. Receive impressions from residents and dental assistants, pour to make mold. Trims models from poured impression, packages study cast mold in boxes, logs receipt and properly stores in residents' cabinets.

  3. Responsible for sending/receiving lab cases, updating patient charts with invoices for cases, quality check of all cases received, working closely with residents and vendor on all cases, and recording receipt of cases for residents. Tracks lab cases to ensure timely processing and completion by the patient's next scheduled appointment.

  4. Performs beginner-level digital workflows, including basic procedures related to fixed and implant prosthodontics (complete and partial).

  5. Cleans lab equipment and stocks lab area.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or High School student in good academic standing required.

  • 1 year dental lab experience preferred.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work with hands preferred.
