Description Job Title: BursarDepartment: Student FinanceLocation: Rochester General College of Health CareersHours Per Week: 40Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8am - 4:30pm, evening and weekend flexibility requiredSUMMARYThe primary role of the Bursar is to maintain the accuracy of student tuition and fee accounts and oversee the billing process to ensure timely and accurate billing statements for students. This position plays a critical role in administration and student services. Acting as cashier for student payments and disbursement of all financial aid funds and student refunds. The Bursar will collaborate with other areas to implement and improve processes and procedures that increase service to students and strengthen administrative operations.RESPONSIBILITIESMaintains the accuracy of student tuition and fee accounts and oversees the billing and receipt process to ensure timely and accurate billing statements for students. Counsels and advises students regarding the tuition and fee payment process and options available to discharge the obligation including but not limited to payment plans, student loans and personal payment arrangements with the College. Provides assistance with customer service, parent/student interactions and dispute resolution.Maintain daily transaction reports and identify payments from outside sources; reporting to the Senior Bursar and Financial Aid Advisor any assistance to the student to be included in the awarding process prior to disbursement.Ensures that all student payments, chargebacks, government checks/drafts, receipts from financial institutions and other sources are properly accounted for and deposited into the prescribed College bank account in a timely manner.Make adjustments to charges and payments to student accounts in accordance with Federal, State, or Institutional Policy.Prepares credit balance refund requests for approval. Resolve credit balances per federal regulation.Work with 3rd party agencies for collection and payment of scholarships and grants.Represent the Department at various events including Financial Aid and Registration Days, Orientation, and Admissions events.Other special projects and job-related duties as assigned.This is a full time position that requires day, evening and occasional weekend availability.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or directly related field from an accredited institution required. Combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelors degree.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAbility to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors.Capacity to work in a highly collaborative environment with distributed leadership.Ability to develop shared meaning and build consensus across a variety of campuses, programs, and departments.Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse populations. Ability to communicate effectively-interpersonally, orally, and in writing to engage a variety of constituents.Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff.Possess excellent customer service, problem solving, analytical and business skills and the ability to translate them into actionable items.Experience in accounts receivable, billing, cash-handling, collections, and data entry - higher education preferred.Experience in using financial software packages.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.PAY RANGE: $60,500.00 - $65,000.00 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
