Summary This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC TITLE 32 PERMANENT, Position Description Number D1194000 and is part of the NH ARNG CSMS, National Guard. This vacancy is to gather applications that may or may not result in a referral or selection. Responsibilities As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC TITLE 32 PERMANENT, WG-5801-8/10, you will perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: E2 to E8 Selectee(s) must be within the military grade(s) listed in this job announcement prior to the effective date of placement into the technician position. Applicant(s) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade. Compatible Military Assignments: 14J, 14T, 91B; CMF 63, 91, 88L, 88P GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 - Must have at least 18 months experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-08 - Must have at least 12 months experience or training using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories. Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. NOTE: This is an upward mobility position. The full performance level (FPL) is a WG- 10. If not already qualified at the FPL, the selected candidate may be eligible for upward mobility to WG-10 after successful completion of an Individual Development Plan (IDP). Coordination with Human Resource Development (HRD) by the Supervisor, at the time of hire, is mandatory to begin training plan and meeting all requirements set forth by HRD before the appointment is upgraded.
