Pick up and drop off patients at homes, medical facilities, and other locations Assist patients with boarding and exiting the vehicle Ensure patients are secured safely in the vehicle Provide first aid or CPR if needed Report accidents to the dispatcher and request police or ambulance service if needed Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform pre-and post-trip inspections Complete trip and vehicle logs Maintain required licenses and certificates Follow GPS and use maps accurately Skills and traits Defensive driving skills Ability to adapt to various medical situations Strong communication skills Ability to lift to 50 lbs Ability to step up and down steps Ability to transport wheelchair patients on paved and unpaved surfaces Ability to work independently High degree of integrity and trust Work environment NEMT drivers may work for hospitals, nursing homes, medical clinics, assisted living facilities, or rehabilitation centers.
