Job Title: Clinical Laboratory TechnicianJob Description
Performs analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients. Participates in the operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities. Testing is performed in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain laboratory instruments.
Troubleshoot assays and evaluate tests for accuracy.
Assist with interpreting results.
Provide operational support to optimize testing capabilities.
Work with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.
Assist with specimen collection as necessary.
Strictly adhere to safety protocols to work with infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.
Isolate and manipulate PBMCs from patient blood specimens in a BioSafety Cabinet.
Use manual pipettes in the laboratory with required manual dexterity.
Freeze, thaw, and plate cells for clinical assays.
Follow standard lab safety protocols to handle human biospecimens.
Learn and use several software programs required for clinical lab operations.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a human biological science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, Marine Biology, Neuroscience).
Experience with Medical Laboratory Testing.
Experience with Instrumentation and Troubleshooting.
Knowledge of Chemistry and Biology.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Flow cytometry or cell sorting is a plus.
Experience with aseptic technique is favored but can be taught.
Will accept OPT candidates.
Work Environment
The lab operates from Tuesday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM with no weekend shifts. The lab culture is friendly, helpful, talkative, and community-based, with around 40 people on the day shift. The team is primarily composed of individuals aged 22-33, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment with social events organized by a Social Committee. The lab emphasizes professional development and offers numerous training programs and career growth opportunities. The dress code adheres to standard laboratory safety protocols.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
