Navistar, Inc. Control and Software Project Engineer in Rochester Hills, Michigan

Position Overview

We are seeking an automotive Controls and Software Project Engineer to join our team at Navistar! In this role, you'll work in the Controls and Software Development group at Navistar design facility and specifically in Quality group where you will investigate controls software and/or hardware issues either occurring in development phase or production with goal of identifying Root Cause and proposing Corrective Action. You'll troubleshoot the issues in simulation environment and/or on actual powertrains or vehicles working with Navistar teams outside Controls and Software and further document your findings to be used to update existing designs as needed.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Developing solutions to complex problems while maintaining the integrity of the product

  • Identify, troubleshoot, contain, and correct engineering issues on test benches, manufacturing facilities, or customer centers

  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests

  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed

  • Work directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Quality, other Product Development groups

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with Controls concentration degree/s preferred

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot

  • High sense of urgency

  • Solid documentation skills (using standard Microsoft Office products: Powerpoint, Excel, Word, etc)
