Actalent Traffic Engineer in Riverside, California

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve in technical roles under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects.

  • Complete assigned work independently and as part of a team within the schedule and number of hours provided.

  • Prepare and/or modify project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.

  • Develop project quantities and assist with the development of cost estimates.

  • Assist engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.

  • Conduct research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.

  • Prepare highway designs, including planning documents and PS&E.

  • Coordinate with other design disciplines, including structures, hydraulics/drainage, stormwater, traffic, electrical, utilities, right of way, and environmental.

  • Coordinate workload throughout entire project development, ensuring completion of documents on schedule and within budget.

  • Interact with clients and participate in technical project design meetings.

  • Provide leadership to the design team for various tasks within the scope of a project, including training and supervising junior staff (for senior roles).

  • Perform quality assurance checks for projects (for senior roles).

Qualifications:

  • Entry-Level (Assistant Civil Engineer):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Planning.

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Civil or Transportation Engineer in a consulting environment or public entity.

  • Engineering In Training (E.I.T.) Certification preferred.

  • Working knowledge of engineering principles and techniques, HCM, MUTCD, ADA, relevant Caltrans design requirements, and interest in the field of active, non-motorized transportation.

  • General understanding of MS Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HCS, PTV Vistro, Synchro/SimTraffic.

  • Mid-Level (Roadway Engineer):

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.

  • 1-3 years of experience.

  • E.I.T. Certification.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Caltrans Highway Design Manual and Standards, AASHTO Highway Design Guide, California MUTCD, Greenbook / APWA standards, and other related standards.

  • Senior -Level ( Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager):

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.

  • 8+ years of experience.

  • Registered California Civil Engineer (P.E.).

  • Experience on projects with Caltrans and/or FHWA oversight.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD Civil 3D experience.

  • Experience should include urban and rural roadway design, intersection design, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layouts, and roadway drainage.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Caltrans Highway Design Manual and Standards, AASHTO Highway Design Guide, California MUTCD, Greenbook / APWA standards, and other related standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $76.00/hr.
