Job Summary and Qualifications
The NICU Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues. If that is you, come be a part of what makes us great and apply today!
What you will do in this role:
Performs comprehensive evaluations of communicative or swallowing status, treatment, and discharge planning
Supervises treatment delivered by the students
Supervises volunteers
Helps coordinate daily activities of Speech Therapy services, participates in program development, quality improvement and problem-solving activities
Documents the delivery of services according to facility and departmental standards
What qualifications you will need:
Current State license or eligibility for license in the State of California
ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC)
Current BLS Certification required
Experience working with the pediatric to geriatric population is preferred
Currently CCS Paneled strongly preferred
Master’s degree program in Speech and Language Pathology
Minimum two years’ experience as a speech language pathologist strongly preferred
Minimum one-year pediatric experience required
Minimum two years NICU experience preferred
Riverside Community Hospital is a large acute care facility with 517 beds, established in 1901. It has the most extensive Emergency Room and Level I Trauma Center in the Inland Empire region and is the primary recipient of STEMI (heart attack) cases in Riverside County. The hospital is accredited as a Chest Pain Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center and has a HeartCare Institute that offers both invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures. Riverside has a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which it is very proud of.
