DUTIES: Admit, evaluate, diagnose, consult, and provide pre, intra and post-operative surgical care. Perform surgical procedures to patients of all ages, except where specifically excluded from practice, to correct or treat various conditions, illnesses and injuries of the alimentary tract, abdomen and its contents, breast, skin and soft tissue, head and neck, endocrine system and minor extremity surgery. Insertion and management of arterial catheter,insertion and management of chest tubes, insertion and management of central venous catheters, pericardiocentesis, tracheostomy, paracentesis, laparoscopic surgery, genitourinary procedures in conjunction with general surgical procedures, peripheral vein surgery and amputation for vascular disease, management of trauma and complete care of critically ill patients with underlying surgical conditions in the emergency department, and the intensive care unit.

REQUIREMENTS: Doctor of Medicine degree, 5 years of General Surgery training. Current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. Applicant must provide documentation of the performance of a minimum of 100 general surgery procedures within 24 months. Knowledge of Special Procedures in Colorectal Surgery is required.
