CORRECTIONS OFFICER

 

The County of Elk has openings for part-time, entry level Corrections Officers at the Elk County Jail.

Corrections Officers, with the support of their fellow Officers and Supervisors, ensure the County Jail is a safe environment for inmates, jail staff, and the general public. This dynamic career encompasses a wide range of roles and responsibilities, and a career in Corrections often ensures no two days are alike. Elk County's team of dedicated Corrections Officers are responsible for enforcing rules and regulations, preventing escapes, maintaining order and discipline within the jail, and escorting inmates to other correctional facilities and outside appointments. Tasks also include operating and inspecting security devices, reporting violations of jail rules, and supervising inmates' visitations. These key operational functions are assigned by the jail's senior staff. Elk County's Corrections Officers keep our community safe 24/7, so applicants must be able to work non-traditional hours including all three shifts, weekends, and holidays. This bargaining position has a starting wage of $15.95 per hour and will increase to $18.69 per hour after one year. There is also a shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shift.
